Lesson and Ensemble Enrollment

Whether you're interested in lessons or ensembles, the enrollment process is outlined below.  For more information, please call the office at (816) 836-1998 or contact us through the form on this site.

Audition

Each student completes an audition consistent with the type of study desired.  Vocal students will complete exercises demonstrating pitch recognition, sight singing and vocal range in addition to performing one or more prepared pieces.  Instrumentalists will perform scales and prepared pieces.  Auditions for ensembles may include a meeting with the directors of the ensemble.

As part of the audition/interview process, parents and students will discuss issues such as:  teacher preference, scheduling, payment options, and more.  Auditions may take place at any time throughout the year, although we recommend beginning study at the start of the academic year.

Interviews are scheduled through the business office, please call 816-836-1998 to arrange an interview time.

Contracts

Music/Arts faculty are independent contracts and set their own number of lessons taught per year and lesson fee.  Contracts are for an academic year running from September through June or July depending on the number of lessons taught by the teacher.  Continuing enrollment, with pro-rated tuition allows students to enter at any time for the remaining sessions in that academic year.

Tuition/Fees

Each instructor is an independent contractor with Music/Arts, and as such, sets their own lesson rate and number of lessons taught each academic year.  Tuition fees may vary.

Fees include:

  • $10.00 Interview fee (applies toward enrollment fee)
  • $16.00 Enrollment fee
  • $50.00 Administrative fee per contract
  • $5.00 Student Handbook fee

Payment

Payment of full tuition is due before the first lesson, or a tuition payment plan may be requested.  If tuition installment plan is approved, service charges are assessed on the unpaid balance and the following policies apply:

  • the first payment is due upon signing the contract - subsequent payments are due on the first day of the month without office billing
  • payments do not in any way reflect the number of lessons taught in a calendar month
  • payments may be:
    • mailed to the Music/Arts office
    • brought into the office during business hours
    • placed in the drop box after hours (located by the front door)
    • paid securely online through PayPal from the "Pay Tuition Online" link on this site
  • a $15.00 per month late fee will be assessed for payments received in the office after the fifth day of the month
  • a $20.00 fee is charged for insufficient fund check returns

Cancellations

The Music/Arts building rarely closes due to inclement weather, due to the fact that we service so many school districts.  Just because your school is closed doesn't mean your lessons is necessarily canceled.

Each instructor is responsible for contacting students if they choose not to teach due to weather.  In the event of a building closing, we will post the notice on the website as well as leave details on the phone answering system.
