Kemper Foundation Awards MAI Matching Grant

Music/Arts Institute, Millicent A. Daugherty Community School of the Arts is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $22,500.00 matching grant from the William T. Kemper Foundation in support of MAI’s drainage remediation project around their historic building.  MAI’s responsibility is to raise an additional $22,500.00 to receive the matching grant and preserve the building.

The mission of MAI, as a not-for-profit Community School of the Arts, is building better lives through excellence in the arts.  Centrally located in Independence, Missouri, MAI serves more than 300 students of the arts each year from all corners of the Kansas City metropolitan area. In addition to music and arts education, MAI encourages confidence, teamwork, accountability, stress management and poise.  MAI partners annually with George Caleb Bingham Academy of the Arts and Camp Shakespeare, the educational outreach of Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, by providing a location for their programs.

The Williams T. Kemper Foundation (Commerce Bank, Trustee) is dedicated to continuing Mr. Kemper's lifelong interest in improving the human condition and quality of life.  Preference is given to projects located in the Midwest, with particular emphasis on his home state of Missouri and the surrounding areas.
