John Svoboda

John Svoboda

John Svoboda, a dedicated artist of the guitar since childhood, has tilled the soil of many styles of music. His pursuit of the classical guitar has cemented the direction of his musical life.

Study of classical guitar at Emporia State University with Professor Donald Kile led Svoboda to win a scholarship at the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music with nationally renowned guitarist Douglas Niedt. Further studies include classes with Pepe Romero, the Assad Brothers, Scott Tennant, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, William Kanengiser, Vladimir Mikulka and Anthony Glise.

Mr. Svoboda heads the Guitar Department at Music/Arts Institute®, where his commitment and enthusiasm is boundless. As a member of the graduating classes (Levels I and II) at Rapport Leadership International, John uses the effective principles taught there and applies them to his successful teaching program—The Elite Guitar Program. Subjects such as: focus, discipline, expression, positive habits, goal setting and reaching, stage presence and much more are emphasized through private instruction as well as group workshops.

Svoboda is a member of the Kansas City Guitar Society Board of Directors and performs throughout Kansas City as a soloist and as part of the duo Algo de Novo with world percussionist Jon Donald. His fourth CD "On Guitar" was released in August 2011.  Visit his website: svobodaguitar.com
