Young MAIsterSingers
The Young MAIsterSingers of Music/Arts Institute, Millicent A. Daugherty Community School of the Arts headquartered in Independence, Missouri, is a professional children's choir of students ranging from 8 to 14 years of age.The group has been featured at the inaugural weekend open house for the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, with the Kansas City Symphony for Carmen, Tosca, Britten’s War Requiem, Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, Howard Shore’s The Lord of the Rings and The Kansas City Symphony's The Magic of Christmas. Music/Arts also prepared the child soloists for the commissioned work Summer Sun/Winter Moon by Robert Kapilow and The Lord of the Rings.
Members of the choir come from several greater Kansas City cities: Archie, Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit, Oak Grove, Liberty, Kansas City, Greenwood, Sugar Creek and Independence. Continuing enrollment allows children to audition at various times throughout the year.
