GCB Academy

Fine arts summer program for high school students.

Music/Arts Institute partners with the Independence School District to offer the George Caleb Bingham (GCB) Academy of the Arts. This free summer program is open to students in grades 9 through 12 from all public, private or parochial schools as well as home school students in Independence and the surrounding area.

Students meet at Music/Arts Institute or MCC’s Blue River Campus for creative workshops and training leading up to showcase events at the end of the session. In addition, students experience the arts and education through field trips to broaden perspectives on creativity and their community.

A semester’s fine arts credit is awarded to all students, and some are eligible for dual credit through MCC-Blue River.
