Young MAIsterSingers Perform at Future Stages

For the second straight year, the Young MAIsterSingers performed for Future Stages at the Kauffman Center, and like always, they made MAI proud. Led by director Cynthia Tiller, the group began the show with “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Paul Simon, arranged by Kirby Shaw. Other pieces were “Away Something Sings” with music by Dan Forrest and text by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

A teacher with her back to the camera directs a group of about 20 elementary and middle-school students on a wood stage. The students are all dressed the same, with teal shirts and black pants. All have their hands raised in the air joyfully.

Anna O’Renick directs the Young MAIsterSingers on the stage in Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center.

“I Had a Paint Box” music by Z. Randall Stroupe, text by Tali Surel (age 13) from the book, My Shalom, My Peace: Paintings and Poems by Jewish and Arab Children; “Memories” by Maroon 5, arranged by Andy Beck. “Praise His Holy Name” by Keith Hampton concluded the show.

This ended the year of many performances. The following eighth grade choir members have received graduation diplomas: Maggie Frederick, Ella Hursman, Riley Porter, Allison Regalado, Elaine Roy.

Assistant directors are Brett Faulkner and Anna O’Renick. Susan Lundquist accompanied the choir at the performance.
